UP Tourism Minister unveils virtual tour feature for Mathura Museum
Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh has officially launched a 360-degree virtual tour of the Government Museum in Mathura, making its rare manuscripts, sculptures, and artifacts accessible to a global audience from the comfort of their homes. The Minister also inaugurated the upgraded auditorium at the State Museum in Lucknow, marking another step in promoting cultural heritage through modern technology.
Speaking at the event, Singh emphasized the importance of preserving and digitizing the treasures housed in Uttar Pradesh’s museums. "The manuscripts, relics, and artifacts stored in our museums are part of our civilisational wealth. By preserving and digitising them, we are not only strengthening research but also passing them on to the next generation", he said.
Virtual Museum Experience
The newly launched virtual tour allows visitors, history enthusiasts, researchers, and students to digitally explore the Mathura Museum's exhibits from anywhere in the world. Tourism Adviser JP Singh highlighted the accessibility of this initiative, explaining, "With the launch of this initiative, any visitor can now take a virtual walk through the galleries of Mathura Museum. History enthusiasts, researchers, and students can now experience the exhibits digitally from anywhere."
Inspiring Future Generations
The Tourism Minister underscored the significance of connecting younger generations with the country's rich heritage. He directed officials to ensure museums actively engage with schoolchildren by organizing regular tours. "Our youth are the architects of a developed India. Museums must not only preserve history but also inspire children to become scientists, doctors, engineers, historians, and builders of a developed Bharat@2047", he added.
To further encourage participation, competitions involving speech, singing, painting, fancy dress, and rangoli were organized for schoolchildren in Lucknow. Students from institutions such as Primary School Amani Ganj, Higher Secondary School, and Government Girls Inter College, Malihabad, took part. Winners, including Aashi, Humbiya Ansari, Riddhima Soni, Kartik, and Zoya, were honored with certificates presented by the Minister.
Preserving Heritage Through Innovation
Minister Jaiveer Singh also called for extensive use of modern technology to conserve cultural heritage and expand public outreach. He stressed that these efforts are crucial in ensuring that future generations inherit and appreciate the civilizational wealth housed in the state’s museums.
By combining technological advancements with cultural preservation, Uttar Pradesh is setting a new benchmark for making history accessible while fostering an appreciation for heritage among younger generations.
